I found Victoria II only a few months ago, but I have been playing the heck out of it.In my latest session I have been playing as Prussia-North German Federation-Germany and encountered some nice name changing going on with the United Kingdom.After destroying them in several wars they were overrun by rebels which changed their government form to communism and a fascist dictatorship. The county name for the UK under communism was changed to Workers Commonwealth and under fascist rule it was changed to Republic of Britannia.Not only did the names change, but the flags were altered for the government type, details like this are why I love grand strategy Paradox games. But now I tried to make the name of Burma change to Myanmar when they are released by Britain and receive a proletarian dictatorship. It happends with multiple nations when their government changes but I just can’t find the event or the thing that triggers it to change. I’m working on the Korean and the Vietnam war now too and I wanted to copy the event for the American civil war and adjust it but I just can’t find it.

If you want to give nations different names for there type of government, you’ll have to go to your victoria directory, and search in the localization folders. The only thing you need is a text editor.
It can be quite a bother to search for the right nations. For example, it took me 10 minutes to find the Soviet Union in all those files. It was apperantly in newtext.csv. So you will find out to change nations’ names depending on their government requires this code:TAG”government”;”Desired name”. So if you want to change Korea in for example the people’s republic of Korea, you’ll have to type KORproletariandictatorship;The People’s Republic Of Korea. Good luck in further editing. Yea I already found out about that like the day after, thanks anyway.
But now I have a tip for you. I use notepad, it puts everything in order and finding the Soviet Union is nothing more than a couple scrolls. It makes creating events and countries easier too with the other csv files.But now I have another question since you seem kind of familliar with modding Victoria II. How do you make a civil war? I looked in events and found ACW (American Civil War), multiplied it and modified it to work on Korea (I created Nort and South Korea as two releasable countries). I set it to happen in 1840 to test it out but nothing happend.
I think it’s due to all the slavery events I deleted. The thing I want to happen is when the civil war is set to happen, North and South Korea are released at war with eachother.
North Korea has conquest casus belli and South Korea unite the nation casus belli. South Korea is added to the sphere of influence of the USA en North Korea to Russia’s (by that time Soviet Union since I made communist rebels more common). I’d also like the country that wins and forms Korea to keep the same government. If I find out how I do this I will probably do it for some more countries like Vietnam, Spain, Ireland, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan etc.
